The Knitting Map
The Knitting Map was a large-scale, durational installation, involving 20 knitters, knitting in a single space, every day for a year; their knitting pattern generated by movement in the city, and the colour of yarn by the weather. Over the course of the year, more than 2500 knitters from 22 countries were involved in the project.
The finished textile from The Knitting Map is available for touring. Please contact us for more details.
The piece was shown at the Merganser Gallery at Millersville University of Pennsylvania, USA, in 2007, and the whole work is currently available for additional exhibitions in the US . More info here. Exhibition shots here.
This was one of two commissions half/angel received from the executive of Cork 2005 : European Capital of Culture in 2003.
